PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project aims to develop innovative solutions to improve the soldier’s combat capabilities and effectiveness in high intensity warfighting scenarios, particularly by reducing cognitive and physical burden.

OBJECTIVES/PRODUCTS

The goal of the project is to harmonise the different operational requirements of PESCO pMS initiatives to develop prototypes of modular, interchangeable, and interoperable equipment and systems, by:

  • Implementing a standardized open architecture that integrates with existing soldier equipment (legacy systems).
  • Enhancing the capabilities of the dismounted soldier (up to platoon level) in several key areas, including operating in congested and contested environments, increasing passive and active protections against new Coordinator: Italy Project Members: Italy, Latvia threats, reducing physical and cognitive burden, integrating BMS technologies, and increasing survivability and mobility.
  • Integrating advanced technologies such as UAS, UGS, and remote-autonomous systems, CEMA measures, AI and AR solutions, Mesh MANET and satellite communication technologies.
  • Improving lethality through lighter and more effective weapons (e.g. C-UAS) and ammunition and increasing logistic support up to the last mile of the battlefield.
  • Promoting collaborative combat through the development of interoperable systems and equipment.

To achieve this, three main capability development pillars could be envisaged: protection/survivability, lethality and Command & Control (data fusion, collaboration within units and capability to speed up the decision making process).
